Club restaurants that bring back this '90s trend

Privilege Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

RESTAURANTS

Vassilis Tsilichristos takes us back to the 1990s, rebooting one of his most popular bar restaurants from that era. Privilege returns to a rooftop overlooking the Acropolis and an interior space inspired by ancient Greece. Nikos Thomas (Simul) and Kostas Terzoudis create a menu of modern Mediterranean cuisine, while the team of award-winning Cypriot bar Lost + Found signs the list of signature cocktails. Check the regular parties with rock, ethnic or mainstream music.

Zuka

RESTAURANTS

The landmark basement that operated for decades as a club has been transformed into a pan-Asian bar-restaurant where you imagine you are in a Buddha Bar, a vintage Hong Kong restaurant or a cosmopolitan Asian restaurant in London. Chef Nikos Cholevas mixes Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese cuisine, with sushi, spring rolls and classic dishes such as the Cantonese crispy duck. Ethnic-dance music events raise the volume and create a party ambiance.

WooWoo

RESTAURANTS

Impressive maximalist bar restaurant with decoration borrowing elements of Asian wildlife. The kitchen is based on traditional Asian cooking techniques and uses herbs, spices and fresh ingredients, some of which are imported from Asia, to prepare a modern version of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai dishes. People come also for cocktails at the bar placed in the centre of the space and stay up late while listening to a singer singing crooner classics.

Rock ‘n’ Roll

RESTAURANTS

This bar and restaurant was a landmark in Athenian nightlife with people packing the dancefloor under the imposing chandelier and every inch of space available. If you even managed to book a table, it meant things in your life were going really well. Today, the queues at the door, the still crowded dancefloor, the afternoon parties on the weekends and the glam rock philosophy, add to a revival of the '80s and' 90s. The heterogeneous audience is filtered by the strict doormen and once inside flirts and dances to radio friendly rock music, from Violent Femmes to Lenny Kravitz. Try to book one of the rotundas on the basement floor to eat multi-ethnic street food and fell like you're in the middle of nightlife action.
